"5 Beignets What a powerful read!
Loved to Death, by Rosa Elmore Ferguson, is a gripping mystery and poignant love story told through the eyes of
heroine Morosa Denise McKinley, a young woman and adoptee with a powerful story to tell. The story takes
place in a small interesting town. The reader will feel part of the small town as they follow Morosa's journey,
the journey of her adoptive parents, and the journey of many of the residents of the town.
The title of the book is testimony of a thin line between love and death - how love can mean something different
to each person yet in the end - have the same meaning. To explain, one can "love a person to death" - albeit
metaphorically or literally. Each reader will have a different perspective on this issue as they journey through
the book.
Adoption issues affect so many people - the adoptee, the adoptive parents, the birth parents and other family
members and friends. The author does a brilliant job of explaining the process and the mental and
psychological issues that cannot be ignored and often, will ultimately change the lives of everyone involved in
the process.
What a powerful and profound story! I could not put it down. I learned quite a bit about adoption, and I felt a
connection to the protagonist of the story, Morosa, and the host of eclectic characters in the book. Although
Morosa and her family had a number of issues, many characters in the town had issues of their own to resolve
and I found myself resolving a few issues of my own. What powerful read that will leave the reader wanting
more! Kudos to author Rosa Ferguson!

While I don't know much about adoption this book was a real eye opener. From the feelings of both the
adoptee and the adopting parents, I now have a better sense of the emotions all the parties partake in.
The sub title "a different kind of love story" is the perfect title for this fast pace quick read. We follow along
the realms of Morosa Denise McKinley as she is missing for two years. Author Rosa Ferguson takes us
along in this diverse short story with us riding shot gun along with the characters as they tell their side of
the story. The characters included Morosa who tells most of the story. We also hear from Morosa's parents,
Morosa's strange and Caucasian classmate and also lover Matthew Taylor. Detective Nettles is a rookie
assigned to Morosa case. Detective Wells a thirty year veteran. I was shocked at the turn of events and I am
sure you will be also.
This short story is about love, love lost, not enough love. We follow the emotions of Morosa as she speaks of
her adoption. I was surprised at the ending. My compliments to Mrs. Ferguson I think she achieved what she
set out to do; open up eyes about adoption, a love story mixed with suspense.
